This classic sauce tomato has roots back to San Marzano sul Sarno, Italy. The 4 to 6-foot-tall plant produces a long, slender plum-shaped fruit in 75-85 days from being transplanted. The San Marzano is meaty with a few seeds making it excellent for sauces.
